ERIN STRENGTHENS INTO A HURRICANE
The National Hurricane Centre has confirmed Erin has strengthened into a category one hurricane, with sustained winds of 75 miles per hour. It continues on a path which will see it pass north of the Leeward Islands this weekend.
The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services is urging residents to remain on alert as heavy rains from Erin’s outer bands are expected later today into the weekend.
A tropical storm watch is in effect for Barbuda, while a tropical cyclone alert is in effect for Antigua.
