TISSUE CULTURE LABORATORY TO REVOLUTIONIZE AGRICULTURE SECTOR – MINISTER SMITH

Antigua and Barbuda is on course for its first-ever tissue culture laboratory.

Agriculture Minister Hon. Anthony Smith Jr provided the update while making his contribution to the 2026 budget debate in Parliament on Wednesday.

He said it will provide a further boost for the country’s food security and food sovereignty efforts.

Tissue culture laboratories create controlled environments in which plant, animal, or microbial tissues can be grown and studied advancing research, improving crop varieties, and supporting innovation within the wider agricultural sector.
