Witness Testifies About Alleged Payment in Nigel Christian Trial
Day two of the Nigel Christian murder trial brought more testimony from the prosecution’s key witness, including claims about money allegedly paid after Christian’s killing.
Shortly before the witness resumed his evidence, the judge instructed jurors to disregard part of yesterday’s testimony in which the witness alleged defendant Lasean Bully wanted to kill his two co-accused.
The judge told jurors that allegation is not evidence they can consider in this case.
When testimony resumed today, the witness said Bully was angry because he did not believe he got what he deserved financially for killing Christian.
The witness told the court he thinks Bully said he received five thousand dollars, Wayne Thomas received five thousand dollars, and Saliem Harrigan got “the rest,” though the witness did not say what that amount was.
Prosecutors allege Christian, a Principal Inspector of Customs, was abducted from his home on July 10, 2020, taken to the Thibou’s area, and shot dead.
Defence attorneys Wendel Alexander, Sherfield Bowen, and Michael Archibald are expected to begin cross-examination when court resumes on Monday.
