The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda (RPFAB) has benefited from the expertise and support of senior members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) as preparations continue for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), scheduled to take place in Antigua and Barbuda in November.

A four-member delegation from the Jamaica Constabulary Force spent one week in Antigua working alongside senior officers of the RPFAB and sharing their knowledge and experience in security planning and the management of major events.

The delegation comprised Assistant Commissioner of Police Garry McKenzie, Senior Superintendent of Police Adrian Hamilton, Superintendent Shaunjaye Mitchell, and Deputy Superintendent Garnet Stapleton.

During their visit, the JCF officers engaged in a series of discussions and working sessions with senior members of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda. The collaboration focused on several critical areas of security planning and operational preparedness ahead of CHOGM.

The visiting officers also toured the island and participated in the assessment and evaluation of several venues earmarked to host official meetings, activities, and other events during the Commonwealth summit.

Their visit provided a valuable opportunity for both law enforcement agencies to exchange experiences, examine security considerations, and strengthen planning arrangements for what will be one of the largest and most significant international events to be hosted by Antigua and Barbuda.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Everton Jeffers, KPM, expressed his appreciation to the visiting officers and the leadership of the Jamaica Constabulary Force for supporting the RPFAB during this important stage of the country’s preparations.

“I am pleased to have members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force coming on board and sharing their expertise in security planning, knowing that they are highly qualified and possess many years of experience in the field of security and the planning of major events,” Commissioner Jeffers said.

The Commissioner noted that collaboration with regional and international security partners remains an important component of the overall security preparations for CHOGM. The knowledge and practical experience shared during the visit will further complement the ongoing work of the RPFAB and other national security and emergency response agencies involved in preparations for the meeting.

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda extends its sincere appreciation to the Commissioner and members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force for their continued partnership and invaluable contribution to Antigua and Barbuda’s CHOGM security preparations.

The JCF delegation departed Antigua on Saturday, August 15.
