POLICE URGE CAUTION AS TRAFFIC CRASHES MOUNT
The head of the police’s traffic department is renewing his caution to motorists to exercise caution on the nation’s streets, as vehicular crashes continue to rise.
Superintendent Elson Quammie of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda says there were 642 traffic collisions between January and March this year, up from 621 during the same period in 2025.
Two road fatalities were also recorded during the first quarter of this year.
Superintendent Quammie says the monthly trend is alarming for such a small island.
He also says the two leading causes of accidents are rear-end collisions and drivers failing to stop at junctions before entering traffic.
Supt Quammie is urging motorists to follow the basic rules of the road.
