APUA Issues Standpipe Warning

The APUA Water Business Unit is urging residents to stop attaching hoses to public standpipes, warning that the practice wastes water, increases the risk of contamination, and reduces access for vulnerable households.

Public standpipes are intended to provide safe drinking water for residents without direct water connections at home. However, APUA says some users are misusing the facilities by attaching hoses an action that is strictly prohibited.
