INDEPENDENCE FOOD FAIR TO BE HELD ON OCTOBER 25 THIS YEAR

Antigua and Barbuda’s 45th independence celebrations will come with several changes to the traditional calendar this year, as organisers adjust the programme around the country’s historic hosting of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2026).

One of the biggest changes will see the popular independence food fair moved from November 1 to Sunday, October 25, when it will be held alongside the schools’ panorama competition and the national independence church service.

The food fair will begin from 7:30 that morning, while the national church service is set for 4pm and the primary and secondary schools’ panorama competition begins at 6pm.

The calendar also features several new or revamped activities, including a special reception for this year’s national honourees, a golden age gala for senior citizens, and the return of school murals and an evening of drama.
