CALL FOR URGENT NATIONAL RESPONSE AS CHILD ABUSE CASES CAUSE ALARM

The Social Transformation Ministry says there have been over 200 cases of child abuse recorded in Antigua and Barbuda so far this year.

Among the cases was a seven-year-old girl who was being abused, but her mother refused to believe her account, until doctors confirmed it.

Portfolio minister Hon. Rawdon Turner is pushing for tougher penalties for child abusers.
