A Prisoner’s Escape Is Short Lived

Lawmen on Sunday made haste to recapture an inmate who bravely scaled the walls of Her Majesty’s Prison.

1735Information surrounding the incident discloses that prisoner Kenny Gage made good his escape sometime after 8:30 this morning. His escape was however short-lived, as he was recaptured mere hours later, at approximately 10:30.

It is being presumed that the inmate’s mental state may have played a role in his decision to evade authorities, as he was reportedly slated to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. The inmate is currently imprisoned on an attempted break-in charge.

Prison authorities and lawmen have had to deal with a number of escapes and attempted escapes from the jail, particularly within the past year.

Noteworthy among these was the March 2014 escape of 28-year-old fraud-accused Gordon Sheppard of Guyana. A citizen’s arrest aided in his recapture two days later.

In June, 2014, an expansive manhunt was launched in an attempt to apprehend escaped prisoner, Avie Howell, who was serving a life sentence for the brutal murder of a south Wales couple on their honeymoon.

Howell was part of a pair who unlawfully fled the penal facility; he was however killed days later as police attempted to apprehend him.

And in November, also of 2014, an All-Points Bulletin was issued for Trevor Jacobs Jr. who reportedly jumped the walls of the prison.

The 24 year old was well known to the courts and his last charge, prior to his death, was that of the murder of fellow prisoner Akeem Browne.
