The Chairman Of The Hotel Association Alex Debrito Wants To See Tourism Education Added To The School’s Curriculum

The importance of the tourism/hotel sector should be taught in schools.

This is the belief of the Chairman of the Antigua Hotels and Tourist Association (AHTA) Alex Debrito.

He says since tourism is our country’s main industry, students need to understand the intricacies of the sector from a young age.

Debrito says there is still a lot of stigma attached to the hotel and hospitality industry, which needs to be dismissed.

Plans are already in place to visit some schools shortly.

Tourism accounts directly or indirectly for well more than half of the country’s Gross Domestic Product and is also the principal earner of foreign exchange in the country.
