ANOTHER BILL PASSED IN LOWER HOUSE AMIDST INTENSE DEBATE FROM OPPOSITION

A crucial legislation has been passed in line with the country’s international obligations.

Lawmakers in parliament’s Lower house have passed the weapons of mass destruction prohibition and non-proliferation bill 2024.

It was piloted by foreign affairs minister hon. E.P. Chet Greene who explained why this legislation is However, Opposition Member Hon. Richard Lewis insisted there was not enough time given for members to peruse the proposed legislation before the debate.

However, Attorney General Sir Steadroy Benjamin rebuffed Mr. Lewis’ argument, insisting time was of the essence to pass this legislation.

Lawmakers underscored their firm stance by increasing the fines during their deliberations at the committee stage.
