FLURRY OF ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR QUEEN’S BATON RELAY IN ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA

Antigua and Barbuda is the latest country to be a part of the Queen’s Baton Relay.
The baton arrived at the VC Bird International Airport on Thursday, the 59th country in the relay.
Governor General Sir Rodney Williams, members of the National Olympic Committee and government officials received the baton from Anguilla to signal the start of several activities in the twin island state over the next 48 hours.
The relay seeks to unite and inspire the over 2 and a half billion people in the Commonwealth before culminating in the opening ceremony for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England on July 28.
It is on a 269-day journey through all 72 nations and territories of the Commonwealth, covering a distance of 140,000 kilometres.
