OVER 90 PER CENT OF TEACHERS VACCINATED AGAINST COVID-19 

More than 90% of teachers and about 80% of eligible students have so far taken the COVID-19 vaccine in Antigua & Barbuda.

Director of Education Clare Browne released the latest figures during an interview this morning on Antigua Barbuda Today.

The Education Director said of the over 8,000 eligible students in the school system, 1,808 remain unvaccinated.

Concerning educators, Director Browne revealed 8% or 109 teachers have not yet taken the COVID-19 vaccine.

As of December 1, unvaccinated teachers were allowed to return to classes provided they provide fortnightly negative COVID tests.

The Education Director said three unvaccinated teachers have indicated they will not return since they do not want to take the tests.
