Three-Member Delegation Represents A&B at High-Level Meeting in The US

Antigua and Barbuda is being represented at the 40th Assembly of Delegates of the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM), taking place in Washington, D.C. on May 28 and 29.

The nation’s delegation is being led by Senate President, the Honourable Alincia Williams Grant, and includes Minister of State in the Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation, the Honourable Kiz Johnson, and executive director of the Directorate of Gender Affairs, Jamie Saunders.

The delegation commenced day one of the Assembly with a bilateral meeting involving Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to the United States, Sir Ronald Sanders, and Antigua and Barbuda’s Alternate Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS), Joy-Dee Davis-Lake.

Discussions during the meeting focused on the ongoing work of Antigua and Barbuda’s Embassy in Washington within the OAS framework, regional and international issues related to gender equality, development and integration, and the country’s priorities for the 40th Assembly.

Senator Williams Grant is slated to speak today during a dialogue examining women’s digital inclusion, while Minister Johnson is expected to contribute to discussions tomorrow on women’s economic rights during a ministerial luncheon.

The Assembly brings together government representatives and regional leaders to advance policies and cooperation aimed at strengthening the rights, empowerment and inclusion of women throughout the Americas.
