GOVERNMENT TRIUMPHS AT UK-BASED PRIVY COUNCIL IN CHALLENGE TO PARADISE FOUND ACT
Antigua and Barbuda’s final appellate court, the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council has ruled in favour of the Government in a constitutional challenge to the Paradise Found Act of 2015.
Law Lords dismissed an appeal by Trevor Walker and McKenzie Frank on Monday, saying “the claimants have no realistic prospect of succeeding in their claim under section 9(1) of the Constitution.”
It is a major legal victory for the Attorney General and the Government in an issue which has been a lightning rod of controversy.
