LAYER FARMERS JOLTED BY SPATE OF THEFT OF LIVESTOCK AND SUPPLIES
The Antigua and Barbuda Layer Farmers Association says its members have been targeted in a recent spate of break-ins and theft.
The Association’s President, Emanuel Peters tells ABS News the incidents over the past two weeks have been marked by a trend of birds, feed and equipment, including feeders being stolen.
He says the reports are being investigated by the police, but is also appealing to members of the public to assist in reporting suspicious activities to ensure the perpetrators are nabbed.
He theorizes the stolen birds are being reared, given the items being stolen.
Peters says the crackdown on praedial larceny is crucial as this increased incidence of theft is adversely affecting the sector.
