ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA JOINS AFREXIMBANK; TAPS EMERGING OPPORTUNITIES ON AFRICAN CONTINUENT

Antigua and Barbuda is now a member of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank).
Education and Sports Minister Hon. Daryll Matthew signed the agreement in Barbados on Thursday on behalf of the Government.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the inaugural Africa-Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum being held in Barbados from September 1-3.
The forum is being held under the theme: “One people, one destiny, uniting and reimagining our future.”
It is aimed at providing a platform for the development of strategic partnerships between the business communities in Africa and the Caricom region.
The objective is to foster co-operation and engagement in trade, investment, technology transfer, innovation, tourism and culture.
The thrust for increased engagement with the continent comes as Antigua and Barbuda has signed a formal agreement with a Nigerian investor to establish Antigua Airways.
The investor will bankroll the project while the Government will obtain 20 per cent of the profits.
