PRIME MINISTER WRITES TO KING CHARLES III, ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA’S NEW HEAD OF STATE
Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne has written to King Charles III, the new British Monarch and ceremonial head of state of Antigua and Barbuda.
Prime Minister Browne has expressed the condolences of the people and Government of Antigua and Barbuda following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
He has also said to His Majesty: “It is my great honour to convey heartfelt sympathies to the people and Government of the United Kingdom during these difficult days of mourning.”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Browne has extended congratulations to King Charles III on his ascension to the throne as head of state of Antigua and Barbuda.
The Prime Minister assures King Charles that the Government will hastily make the necessary changes that reflect the new circumstances.
He has also thanked the King for his visits to Antigua and Barbuda while he was Prince Charles, including following the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma in 2017.
Prime Minister Browne says the importance that the twin-island state attaches to addressing the global climate challenge is enhanced when His Majesty “echoes the concerns and solutions which island countries propose.”
