Cardiology Centre On The Cards
Approval has been granted for this country’s first comprehensive National Cardiology Center, marking a major advancement in Antigua & Barbuda’s healthcare system.
The proposal, submitted by internationally recognized cardiologist Professor Xingwei Zhang through the Minister for Health, Wellness, Environment and Civil Affairs, Sir Molwyn Joseph, outlines a strategic partnership aimed at delivering world-class cardiac care locally.
The initiative builds on a successful two-year collaboration between Hangzhou Normal University and Antigua and Barbuda’s Ministry of Health, along with the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. The primary objective is to eliminate the need for citizens to travel overseas for life-saving cardiac procedures by providing advanced interventional cardiology services within the country.
The Centre is expected to be operational before year’s end.
