Government Secures $6.5M Sandals Tax Settlement
The government has confirmed a EC$6.5 million tax settlement with Sandals Resorts International, bringing closure to a long-standing financial dispute.
Officials say the matter involved a tax assessment by Inland Revenue, which was initially valued at a significantly higher, double-digit million-dollar figure. After negotiations and a full review of liabilities, exemptions, and past contributions, both sides agreed on the final settlement.
Of the total, EC$5 million will be directed toward the planned Renaissance Park development at Fort James, a major redevelopment project expected to transform the historic coastal site.
