Immigration Department Issues Guidelines for 2026 Amnesty Programme

The Immigration Department has released detailed guidelines for the latest round of the government’s immigration amnesty, which begins July 1 2026 and runs until September 30 2026.

The programme provides eligible individuals with an opportunity to regularize their immigration status in accordance with the laws of Antigua and Barbuda.

Officials say applicants must have lived in Antigua and Barbuda for at least four years and have experienced gaps or irregularities in their immigration status during that period.

To apply, individuals must submit a passport-sized photograph, a completed application form, and police records from every country in which they have resided over the past four years. Applicants are also required to pay a processing fee of five hundred dollars and a change of status fee of one hundred and fifty dollars.

Applications will be accepted at Immigration Headquarters from Monday to Friday between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis using a numbered queue system.

The department has also established an amnesty information desk at Immigration Headquarters to assist members of the public, with additional information available by telephone during normal business hours.

Officials emphasise that eligibility to apply does not guarantee approval. Each application will be assessed individually in accordance with the Immigration and Passport (Amendment) Act, 2026, and other applicable immigration laws.

The department is encouraging all eligible persons to take advantage of the amnesty before the September 30 deadline.
