I’M SURE THAT JUSTICE WILL BE DONE’ – AG BENJAMIN RESPONDS TO PICKET OVER INMATE’S DEATH

Attorney General and Minister for Public Safety, Hon. Sir Steadroy Benjamin, has assured that investigations are continuing into what he says was the “regrettable” death of inmate Rashawn ‘Turtle’ Shabbaz, following an incident at His Majesty’s Prison on July 23, 2026.

Sir Steadroy says there will shortly be a finding of the coroner into Shabbaz’s death, which he says “came under unfortunate circumstances.”

The Attorney General was responding to a picket led by the father of the deceased Khalid Shabbaz outside both the Prison and the Legal Affairs Ministry.
