BABY FORMULA SHORTAGE IN THE US IMPACTS LOCAL MARKET

A shortage of baby formula in the United States is having ripple effects in Antigua and Barbuda.
ABS News spoke with a supermarket operator who says his establishment has been experiencing the shortage for a while.
He says Lactogen is one of the brands noticeably difficult to get.
Another supermarket was out of Lactogen and had a short supply of other brands.
The supermarkets get imports from local suppliers- Caribbean Pharmaceuticals, Frank B Armstrong and Brydens.
A shortfall in baby formula in the United States started as far back as March.
According to USA Today, the scarcity began in November when about 11 percent of popular brands were out of stock.
The issue continued to worsen across the US because of recalls and supply chain challenges.
