DPP TO GO ON ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE IN THE WAKE OF GLC VERDICT
Director of Public Prosecutions Anthony Armstrong is to go on administrative leave after being found guilty of professional misconduct in Jamaica.
Jamaica’s General Legal Council’s Disciplinary Committee says Armstrong violated one of its professional ethics rules when he witnessed someone’s statement on a legal document without the person being present.
The violation reportedly happened between 2002 and 2004 in Armstrong’s native Jamaica. He later became Antigua and Barbuda’s DPP in 2005.
The complainant, who took Armstrong before the Disciplinary Committee had levelled several other allegations against the attorney.
However, the panel has described the complainant as a devious man with an incredulous story.
Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne says he understands Armstrong will appeal the decision.
