Dredging of the St.Johns Harbor set

The authorities are making moves to sweep the seabed at the St. Johns Harbor as part of efforts to accommodate larger vessels and modernize the lower St. Johns and the Heritage Quay areas.

Prime Minister Spencer deems it important, calling the sweeping of the sea bed a critical component to the development of the destination’s tourism product.

He says it is vital that the operation does not adversely affect business in the area.

The government, the St. Johns Development Cooperation and the principles involved are now finalizing the plans for the undertaking.

The President of the Antigua and Barbuda cruise Tourism Association, Nathan Dundas is pleased that after much talk, action is about to take place.

The Heritage Quay area has been faced by a number of challenges in recent times.
