PM PARTICIPATES IN WORLD BANK MEETING

Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne has again highlighted the challenges hindering the development of Caribbean countries at another high-level meeting.
The head of government and Finance Minister participated spoke at the World Bank Governors of the Caribbean Region with World Bank Managing Director for Operations Axel van Trotsenburg.
Prime Minister Browne put the issue of debt and the need for a debt swap squarely on the table.

This was part of the 2021 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings and was held under the theme “From Response to Recovery: Charting a Dynamic Transformation for the Caribbean.”
The Prime Minister has also made the case for the establishment of concessional financing instruments.

The Prime Minister has also requested the World Bank’s assistance in establishing sustainable air and sea transportation across the region.
