The White House has ruled out introducing mandatory federal Covid-19 vaccination passports.

The Joe Biden administration in Washington DC insists citizens’ privacy and rights should be protected.

The United States said it did not and would not support a “system that requires Americans to carry a credential”.

Several countries around the world are exploring these so-called vaccine passports to show that a person has been inoculated against Covid-19, as a way of safely reopening mass gatherings and travel.

The United States is Antigua and Barbuda’s largest source market for tourists and this development is seen by industry observers as positive for the revival of the crucial sector.
