‘WE ARE FAR STRONGER TOGETHER THAN ALONE’ – PM BROWNE ON TCN TALKS WITH US
Prime Minister the Right Honourable Gaston Browne says a collective approach would have been the best approach to negotiations with the United States regarding the fraught issue of Third-Country Nationals (TCN).
Prime Minister Browne told journalists at the Caricom Heads of Government Meeting in St Lucia, that this regional position has been difficult, theorizing that some countries have been reluctant or even fearful of a coordinated approach to talks on this issue with Washington.
Prime Minister Browne had previously disclosed that Antigua and Barbuda would be amenable to accommodating up to 16 of these third-country nationals from the United States per year, but they cannot include criminals or members of the LGBT+ community.
The United States has been pushing for Antigua and Barbuda to accommodate some 120 of these third-country nationals.
