ECCB TO ASSESS PROPOSAL FROM PM BROWNE ON US-DOLLAR-DENOMINATED SECURITIES

The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank is to consider a major call from Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne, for some of its resources to be used to stimulate further domestic investments in the currency union.

Prime Minister Browne made the call Thursday evening, in his capacity as the newly-minted chairman of the ECCB Monetary Council.

The monetary council is the highest decision-making body of the central bank, which is the financial regulator in the currency union.

Prime Minister Browne provided an update on Friday, as the council concluded intense discussions during its 111th meeting at the Barbuda Ocean Club.
