JAMILLA KIRWAN TO BE SWORN IN AS NEW INDEPENDENT SENATOR
Media relations specialist Jamilla Kirwan is being appointed as the new independent senator, and is to be sworn in by Governor General Sir Rodney Williams at Government House this morning. The Constitution empowers the Governor General to select, on his own volition, an individual to serve in Parliament’s Upper House as an independent legislator.
Kirwan’s appointment takes the Senate back to its full slate of 17 members.
Kirwan replaces Kiz Johnson who resigned in recent weeks ahead of contesting the Antigua Barbuda Labour Party primary in St Phillip’s South in early December.
