APUA Creating Battery Storage Policy For Residential Properties
The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) is developing a policy for customers with rooftop solar systems who want to install battery storage. More than 300 properties are currently registered with APUA as using alternative energy.
Electricity Business Unit Manager Andre Mathias says the policy is therefore necessary to address safety concerns, particularly the risk of batteries continuing to supply electricity to sections of the grid that workers believe have been isolated during repairs.
APUA expects the policy to be finalized within weeks.
