Prime Minister Gaston Browne has scored one for the tourism industry in the Caribbean
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has scored one for the tourism industry in the Caribbean.
The tourism sector, a major source of wealth and income generation for many Caribbean countries, will now be a consistent feature on the agenda of meetings at the level of Caricom heads.
Thanks to Prime Minister Browne who used the summit in Guyana to underscore the importance of the industry to the region.
Heads looked favourably on his arguments and have agreed to make matters arising from the sector a regular item of discussion at meetings going forward.
Just recently, at a meeting in St. Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to the OAS Sir Ron Sanders made the call for such an initiative, noting likewise the importance of the sector to the economies of the region.
